Who are We?
Melissa Clegg, co-founder of Neuro Speech Clinic, is a highly experienced Speech and Language Therapist with over 20 years of expertise working with adults with neurological conditions. She has extensive experience both in the NHS and, for the past 15 years, as an independent therapist. Combining clinical expertise with a compassionate approach, Mel, alongside co-founder Chrissie, is dedicated to providing personalised support to individuals and their families, helping them navigate their communication and swallowing challenges with confidence. She is a trained 'Contented Dementia' coach and a certified Lee Silverman Voice Therapy LOUD® clinician. She is a member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT), the Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice (ASLTIP), the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and has a DBS check for both adults and children. We are happy to work alongside our NHS colleagues to support our patients with communication difficulties.
Chrissie Elworthy, co-founder of Neuro Speech Clinic and is a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist with a particular interest in communication difficulties in Stroke, Parkinson's Disease and Brain injury. Like Melissa, she is also certified Lee Silverman Voice Therapy LOUD® clinician, supporting people with Parkinson’s and related conditions to improve their intelligibility and vocal volume. Chrissie also has extensive experience supporting adults with communication difficulties living with Motor Neurone Disease (MND), Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), and other atypical Parkinson’s disorders. Chrissie is experienced in treating aphasia, dysarthria, apraxia of speech, and cognitive communication disorders (following Stroke or Brain injury), helping individuals and their families communicate with confidence and achieve their personal goals. Chrissie and Mel work closely together, bringing over 35 years of combined experience to the people they support. She is a registered member of RCSLT, ASLTIP, and HCPC, and holds an enhanced DBS check.
