Communication Changes After Brain Injury
Following brain injury, a person may present with language difficulties or a Cognitive Communication Disorder. Symptoms may include:

  • Slurred or unclear speech

  • Difficulty understanding or finding words

  • Trouble staying on topic

  • Difficulty following conversations

  • Struggling to plan, organise, or problem-solve

  • Problems with memory, attention, or concentration

Swallowing Changes after a Brain Injury (Dysphagia)
Swallowing problems are common after brain injury and can lead to:

  • Risk of aspiration (food or drink entering the airway)
